Divine Comfort

Most of us think of the Holy Spirit as divine Power. The story of Pentecost could definitely be taken as a science fiction story…or rather, science non-fiction! Can you imagine it? A great wind sweeping through the room! Tongues of flame resting on the heads of the disciples! The disciples preaching the word of God in all sorts of different languages and dialects spontaneously!

This must have been awe-inspiring and even quite frightening to those who witnessed it. But that event, that Spirit, sparked the birth of the Church and why we do what we do today! Pretty powerful, huh? But did you know that the Holy Spirit was sent not just to empower us, but to comfort us.

No matter what may try to keep us from being who we were meant to be, there is a Spirit within us all that calls to comfort us, even when we find ourselves in situations that seem too great for us to accomplish. Indeed, the Comforter has come!
